Psalms 1

The gentle patter of rain puts my heart at ease.  The earth is drinking in the beautiful nutriment from heaven, and yes it is beautiful in it's own way.

Last week we started reading through psalms with Papa Ken. One of my all time favorite parts of the week is when we go up to Papa Ken's house and sit around his table and talk about the Lord and all he is doing and speaking through his word.

One of our assignments was to rewrite psalms 1 in our own words.
I wanted to share what I wrote for verses 1-3.

Great is the one who chooses his community wisely and does not walk with lawless men.

He loves the nature of the Lord and is not afraid to search it out day and night, night and day.

His roots are deep and he drinks in the living water. Therefore his life is filled with the fruits of the spirit in abundance, and wherever he walks life springs forth.

The wicked have no roots and cannot stand, but are blown away by the very wind that should have made them strong.

With no roots it is impossible to stand next to those who's roots are deep.

Joy

There's so much joy welling up in my heart right now! Two days ago I had my 24th birthday. I can't believe I am 24. Anyway, my friend Lindsay and I took a road trip to my house to celebrate my birthday with my beautiful sister Martha. It was so good to have some time with my family and to cook and eat  together again. I love Martha so much and it was an honor to celebrate her.
Sunday, after an amazing service at the Refuge, Lindsay and I drove back to the farm. When we started driving north, I felt so much peace. Yes, we were on our way home.
Sunday evening my fellow interns gave me a very special gift. They got me a beautiful little soprano ukulele...yes they are so amazing. Okay, I have to give you a bit of an update since it has been awhile. My weekly schedule consists of 5 major classes or tracks. Art, music, writing, darkroom photography, and Bible. They are all in-depth and intense and I am excited about all of them! The one, however, that has already caused me to have a breakdown is the music class. Molly and Chris are amazing teachers and I really do love our time together listening to music and exploring the world of music. We have homework for each of or classes, and for music class we have to write a song this week. The issue was for me that I didn't have an instrument or know how to play anything except for a few cords on the guitar. My farm fam helped me with the instrument and I am falling in love with my little uke. Now I get to overcome my fear of singing and writing music. It is not going to be easy, but it is so good to explore an area of creativity that I have really not had the boldness to embrace. I still have so much to learn and I am so glad to have the greatest teacher ever, the Holy Spirit, helping me all the way.

At home in the woods

I am here. I Have to say it feels a lot like a dream, but a beautiful dream. Last night the farm family threw us a big welcome dinner that captured my heart. It was complete with pecan crusted tilapia, mashed sweet potatoes and roasted green beans made by the amazing Martha and Chris. All throughout the evening we were showered with gifts and words of encouragement. It was beautiful and so humbling because all I could do was receive all evening. Mel gave me a watercolor of a lighthouse. Molly gave me a set of three stunning antique handkerchiefs, and one has an embroidered E on it. Justina gave us each a roll of leather that we are going to use to make a journal. Chris gave us each a book and journal for writing and creating. This beautiful night was brought to a close by all the staff surrounding us and singing over us.
My heart is so happy to be here. So safe so beautiful. This is going to be a beautiful season.
